Rachelle Dejean – Bikini Competitor and Fitness Model

Briefly share with us your background (Education, Interests, etc.)?

I LOVE being active and feel weird sitting still. I am actually a two sport Division I athlete.
I was active all of my life, but started focusing on one sport once I got to high school. I went on to play Division I volleyball at Bradley University with my twin sister (She actually plays the same position…but we always loved & thrived on the extra competition!).

I am (my twin sister, too) short, but have a HUGE heart and passion for the sport. That’s all you need to play BIG in a tall sport:) My volleyball career at Bradley was definitely roller coaster of experiences with volleyball. I had 2 head coaching changes and 4 assistant coaching changes in a matter of 4 years, not to mention so many girls coming and going on the roster.

I was never given the full aid I was promised by the head coach that recruited me; I didn’t let this defeat me though, and went on to break and set a new school record for Bradley Women’s Volleyball Career Digs! I love being an underdog and still pushing to succeed. I learned hear that “Success is a journey..!”

My last semester when volleyball eligibility already concluded, I decided to join the Women’s track team and sprint for my final semester keep me in shape! I also had my eyes on my first body building competition in the bikini division just a week after graduation!

I’m always looking for ways to challenge myself…and I knew diet would be my toughest bet..So I found a friend to advise me with workouts & put together a meal plan and WENT FOR IT!

I graduated in May with a BS in Advertising, and minors in marketing and graphic design. I LOVE graphic design and would love to eventually merge the two of my biggest passions together: being creative & living a healthy lifestyle. Whether that means magazine design, or marketing design, I don’t know just yet…. ūüôā

Who has inspired you the most to succeed as a Fitness Competitor?

The summer before my final year as an undergraduate was when I realized that I wanted to join the fitness world. Icons like Jamie Eason & Amanda Adams became huge motivators for me as well as resources to change my mindset and keep improving my lifestyle! My parents and family have always supported me through years and years of recreational and competitive sports, so their support always inspires me to keep challenging myself.

What competitions have you made appearances in? From these, what were your
placements (titles won)?

Kevin Noble’s NPC Grand Prix – May 19, 2012 where I placed 4th out of 12 competitors in Bikini Short Class; Tim Gardner’s NPC Extravaganza – July 7, 2012 where I placed 1st in Bikini Short class out of 4 competitors, and also took the overall Title (Short vs Tall Class). I was also in the July 2012 Online Flex Bikini Model Search as an online contestant.

When is your next upcoming show? What will be your competing class?

My next competition is in 18 days! It is Gary Udit’s IFBB North Americans in Pittsburgh, PA. I will be in Bikini Class A (5’2″ and under). I am excited to step up on stage for my first show! I gave two very different looks at my first two shows, and I have been working hard to bring an even more refined package!

Katia Rice – Bikini Competitor

[facebooksimplelike]

I had the pleasure of meeting Katia about a year ago backstage at a competition. That was the night she won her class and overall. One look at her and you could tell she was clearly a winner. Read more about Katia …..

Tell the readers a little bit about yourself…

I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of Georgia Southern University. A freelance model and bikini competitor, I love to perform.  I am also a lover of the arts. Live jazz music, theatre plays, amusement parks, carnivals and roller skating are a few of my favorite things; and I think sundresses and flip flops are the absolute best! Health and fitness has become a major part of my life and I am committed to living a healthy, stress-free lifestyle.

What inspires you?
I am inspired by people who set goals and follow through. People often ask me about dieting and exercise, but very few people will actually execute a fitness plan. I am also inspired by my own results. When training for a show, my goal is to be better than I was in the previous show. The training is hard, the dieting is harder, but the sense of accomplishment once you have reached your goal makes it all worth it.

What shows have you done and what were the outcome?
SNBF Pro/Amateur Event (11/06/10)
Gainesville, GA – 5th Place Bikini Class

SNBF Georgia State Championships (04/09/11)
Atlanta, GA – 1st Place Bikini Short Class and Overall Bikini Champ

NPC Atlantic USA’s (03/17/12)
Atlanta, GA – 3rd Place Bikini Class A

What is next for you?
Right now I am focused on working with my trainer to make
improvements. I am committed to presenting a new and improved me each
and every time I grace the stage. You will see more of me in 2012!
I would like to thank my trainers Roc and Gina Shabazz and my Fitness
Pros family for their continued support. I would also like to thank
Celeste Hunt and Sabina Moise for introducing me to the world of
bodybuilding and fitness. I am so happy with what I have accomplished
thus far. I feel that I have accomplished so much in such a short
amount of time, and I plan to keep the momentum going. I am excited to
see what this season has in store for me.¬†“In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” ~ Proverbs 3:6
