Rachelle Dejean – Bikini Competitor and Fitness Model

Briefly share with us your background (Education, Interests, etc.)?

I LOVE being active and feel weird sitting still. I am actually a two sport Division I athlete.
I was active all of my life, but started focusing on one sport once I got to high school. I went on to play Division I volleyball at Bradley University with my twin sister (She actually plays the same position…but we always loved & thrived on the extra competition!).

I am (my twin sister, too) short, but have a HUGE heart and passion for the sport. That’s all you need to play BIG in a tall sport:) My volleyball career at Bradley was definitely roller coaster of experiences with volleyball. I had 2 head coaching changes and 4 assistant coaching changes in a matter of 4 years, not to mention so many girls coming and going on the roster.

I was never given the full aid I was promised by the head coach that recruited me; I didn’t let this defeat me though, and went on to break and set a new school record for Bradley Women’s Volleyball Career Digs! I love being an underdog and still pushing to succeed. I learned hear that “Success is a journey..!”

My last semester when volleyball eligibility already concluded, I decided to join the Women’s track team and sprint for my final semester keep me in shape! I also had my eyes on my first body building competition in the bikini division just a week after graduation!

I’m always looking for ways to challenge myself…and I knew diet would be my toughest bet..So I found a friend to advise me with workouts & put together a meal plan and WENT FOR IT!

I graduated in May with a BS in Advertising, and minors in marketing and graphic design. I LOVE graphic design and would love to eventually merge the two of my biggest passions together: being creative & living a healthy lifestyle. Whether that means magazine design, or marketing design, I don’t know just yet…. 馃檪

Who has inspired you the most to succeed as a Fitness Competitor?

The summer before my final year as an undergraduate was when I realized that I wanted to join the fitness world. Icons like Jamie Eason & Amanda Adams became huge motivators for me as well as resources to change my mindset and keep improving my lifestyle! My parents and family have always supported me through years and years of recreational and competitive sports, so their support always inspires me to keep challenging myself.

What competitions have you made appearances in? From these, what were your
placements (titles won)?

Kevin Noble’s NPC Grand Prix – May 19, 2012 where I placed 4th out of 12 competitors in Bikini Short Class; Tim Gardner’s NPC Extravaganza – July 7, 2012 where I placed 1st in Bikini Short class out of 4 competitors, and also took the overall Title (Short vs Tall Class). I was also in the July 2012 Online Flex Bikini Model Search as an online contestant.

When is your next upcoming show? What will be your competing class?

My next competition is in 18 days! It is Gary Udit’s IFBB North Americans in Pittsburgh, PA. I will be in Bikini Class A (5’2″ and under). I am excited to step up on stage for my first show! I gave two very different looks at my first two shows, and I have been working hard to bring an even more refined package!

Roxanne Patricia – Bikini Athlete

Roxanne competed for the first time May 19th, and came in 2nd in her division! She had an amazing fitness journey losing a lot of weight along the way.
Please read more about Roxanne.
Can you please share with the readers your background and interests?
I was born and raised in Prince George and still live there. I went to UNBC where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, and a Bachelor of Education and I am now a teacher. I have played sports my entire life, and played varsity soccer while going to UNBC. I love to do anything that is active and challenges me, and in my spare time (when I have it) I love to read a good novel.
Who has inspired you the most to become a bikini competitor?
The person that inspired me first to become a fitness competitor is Jenna Servatius and Carol Lama. I had just finished University and was no longer playing varsity soccer and gained almost 30 pounds. I was looking for some inspiration and some guidance on how to lose the weight. My friend Jenna lost over 40 pounds doing a fitness competition and I figured hey I can do that too!!! As I started this journey I was fortunate to have two of the best trainers (Erin Moubray and Angelique Kronebusch) to inspire, and push me to places, I did not even think I could go to. My fianc茅 and friends have kept me motivated to keep going, and I could not have been so successful without all of these people.
What shows have you competed in, and what were your placements?
The BCABBA Western聽Canadians was the first competition that I have ever been in. I finished 2nd in bikini division D.
What will be your next competition and competing class?
My next show will be Provincials June 30th, 2012. I will be competing in the bikini division. I will be training hard for the next month, and hopefully with a little luck I can do as well as I did at the Western Canadians.

I am a licensed ISSA personal trainer, AFAA certified aerobic instructor, and TIGI trained cosmetologist, and an NPC Bikini Competitor. Not only is she in incredible shape, but she takes the time to truly help people achieve their goals through her column and advice. Also, I feel very fortunate to have very supportive friends, family, and trainer in my life that inspire and support me to do my best and always work hard towards my goals.

Words of Advice: Whether you are just beginning on your health and fitness journey, or you鈥檝e been living the lifestyle for quite some time my biggest advice is to always have faith in yourself. We will all have good days and bad ones, but its how we deal our obstacles that molds who we are. For me, I often 鈥榝all before I fly鈥, but I always learn, keep my faith, and push on. So work hard, be persistent, and your goals will be achieved! And a special thank you to my sponsor Dymatize and my Trainer and Coach Tim Rice for all their help and support!
