Can you please share with the readers your background and interests?

I am a 40 year old mother of two beautiful girls, Madison (10) and Sophie (8).  On top of being a full-time Mom, I am also a part-time physiotherapist at Kelowna General Hospital.  I have always enjoyed leading a healthy and active lifestyle. I figure skated competitively for 12 years which consumed most of my childhood but taught me self-discipline, self-confidence and the ability to laugh at myself.  Watching old videos of yourself will do that!!  My most current passions involve lifting weights, playing hockey, snowboarding, skate skiing, rock climbing as well as biking, hiking and running.  I am also helping to coach my daughter’s triathlon club and am always amazed and inspired by my girls strength, determination and energy.  They keep me young and make me want to be a mom that they can look up to and be proud of.

Who has inspired you the most to succeed as a Figure Competitor?

The amazing women like Monica Brant and Jamie Eason who grace the covers of Oxygen magazine.  I have had the privilege to train with Monica Brant at her F.E.M. Camps last September in Marina Del Rey and again in Kelowna this July.  This woman is so extremely passionate and motivating about fitness and reaching your goals. Her drive, dedication and discipline are contagious and she is not only beautiful on the outside but radiates pure joy and strength from the inside as well.  My other source of inspiration is my husband.  He sees all of the things in me that I can’t and believes in me on the days that I can’t believe in myself.  He always builds me up and never lets me quit.  He is my rock!

What competitions have you made appearances in, and what titles have you won?

When is your next upcoming show and what will be your competing class?

I started training for my first show less than a year ago and I never expected  to do more than one show let alone make it all the way to Nationals!  Right now it is time to digest all that has happened in the last year, spend time enjoying these last lazy days of summer with my wonderful husband and kids and enjoy my training for the pure joy it brings me.  Never say never though, you might just see my smiling face back on the National stage next year.

Patty Zariello IFBB Figure Pro

Patty Zariello is one the the most disiplined and hardest working women I know. No surprise she earned her PRO card at the 2012 Team Universe show on July 8, 2012. I asked her to share with our readers what keeps her motivated. Read below for more

My family motivates me to live a healthy lifestyle. We have a history of health problems in my family including heart disease and diabetes, which can be avoided by taking better care of our bodies by eating right and exercising. It hurts to see loved ones suffer especially knowing that there is something they can do to help themselves. I want to be able to live life to the fullest, to be able to enjoy an active lifestyle with my kids for as long as I can, and to set an example for them. I’m also motivated by my awesome husband who always supports me.

As far as what motivates me to complete I would say that comes from within. There’s something inside of me that just pushes me to work harder. I love the feeling I get from setting a goal and going after it with all I got! I have a very competitive side of me that feeds off the challenge. The more impossible it seems the more I need to find a way to do it. I absolutely fell in love with this sport and I’m having so much fun. I truly just enjoy it so much that it doesn’t take much to motivate me. I just want to become better and better at it! I also want to help others. I enjoy giving support and encouraging others (especially other moms). It inspires ME even more when someone tells me that I inspired them or helped them in any way. To receive letters of thanks or being recognized by other women with the same dreams is an amazing feeling! I love the feeling of making someone else happy.
