Could you please tell our readers your background and interests?

I am a 36 year old mother of two daughters.  Life is busy!  In addition to keeping up with my children, I am a Global Television News Anchor and I own a small clothing boutique.  I am also a wife to a loving and thankfully very supportive husband.

Who inspired you the most to become a figure competitor?

I am just at the beginning of my ‘figure competitor’ journey.  I have admired many women, some who I know and some who I see only in magazines.  I admire anyone with the discipline required of this sport and after completing my first competition am happy to count myself among these women.

What competitions have you made appearances in and what placements have you achieved?

I just competed in the 2012 Western Canadians in Kelowna.   I placed 5th in the Figure ‘D’ category.

What is your next upcoming show and competing class?

I am currently planning out my schedule.  I’m looking at the IDFA Show in Calgary this October, as well as the Sandra Wickham Fall Classic in Vancouver in November.  Beyond that, who knows…just one step at a time!  I am working at putting on some muscle right now!

Can you share with our readers your background and interests?

I am an executive assistant at an oil and gas company in Calgary, AB. When I’m not at work, you can find me at the gym, snowboarding, downhill mountain biking or keeping up with at very rambunctious pug. I enjoy being active and living a healthy lifestyle.

Who has inspired you the most to succeed as a Figure Competitor?

I was looking for a new challenge but didn’t know what I wanted to do. While at a mountain bike camp I discovered that my coach had entered a fitness competition a few months before the camp. She told me all about the experience and encouraged me to give it a try. After some research, I found a trainer, Dr. Wendy Ashby. Wendy guided me through the process, making it a really fun experience. After my first competition I was hooked. Wendy has been a great inspiration and has always believed in me, even when at times, I doubted myself.

What competitions have you made appearances in and what were your placements?

2010 – May, IDFA, Calgary – Novice Figure 2nd place

2011 – May, IDFA, Calgary – Open Figure 3rd place

2011 – October, IDFA, Calgary – Open Figure 1st place Overall (received Pro Card)

When is your next upcoming show and what will be your competing class?

I will compete in two competitions this year:

May 12, INBF. Category – Ms Fit

Sept 30, NPAA. Category – Figure

What is your current nutritional plan in preparation for a competition, and what supplements do you take when in contest prep?

I’m sure my nutrition plan is similar to other competitors. I eat several small meals spread throughout the day. I supplement with BCAA and multi vitamins. I try to keep it simple.

What’s your weekly Training Split like?

I lift weights approx 5 days per week.

What’s your Cardio Schedule like during competition prep?

I generally do cardio (30-45 min) in the morning. This is when I practice my posing as well.

What techniques do you employ to best prepare you for a competition?

Stage presence is really important. I have two left feet so I really need to practice until I’m comfortable with everything. Its one less thing to worry about when you’re on stage and you can just have fun and enjoy the moment. As for carb cutting and drying out … I leave that up to my trainer to tell me what’s best. I think that the last week should be really personalized to each individual.

Becca Goldie – Figure Athlete

Becca has dedicated her life to fitness and health, and continues to inspire those around her to live a fit and active lifestyle. Her passion for fitness definitely shows.

Please read more about Becca.

Can you please share with our readers your background and interests?

I was born and raised on the East coast of Canada and moved to Montreal when I was 19 to study fashion design. While working in the industry I
continued with my love for all things health and fitness on the side and finally took the plunge and decided to compete in 2010. In 2011 I decided to follow my passion for health and fitness and move back to the East coast to begin a career change.

Competing in figure is just a perk of my healthy lifestyle now. I love being healthy and fit enough now to run races, hike, and fully enjoy life. After growing up very overweight with several health problems, I wouldn’t trade my healthy lifestyle for anything now.

In my spare time I love to cook and bake, hike, camp, or just be outside, and spend time with family and friends.

Who has inspired you the most to succeed as a Figure Competitor?

When I began competing my biggest inspiration came from wanting to look like the women in fitness magazines. It began as a competition with myself to push myself to train and compete to look like those women. Over time I came to realize that everyone, myself included, has strengths and weaknesses and there is no logic in trying to look like someone else, it is simply about making yourself the best you can be.

When competing became about bettering myself, and not trying to look like someone else, I began to find inspiration in people I met in my everyday life, other competitors, bloggers and friends and family. Everyone has their story for wanting to be healthy, get active and compete (whether it be in fitness or anything else) and that is what drives me forward.

What competitions have you made appearances in and what are your placings?

To date I have competed in four competitions: IDFA Novice Classic 2010, IDFA Montreal Classic 2010, IDFA Eastern Canada Classic 2010 and the IDFA National Capitol Classic 2011.

I was a finalist for the IDFA Transformation Challenge in 2010, but have not had any placings to date. My biggest goal is never a trophy, but simply to walk off stage knowing I have improved from my last competition.

When is your next show and competing class?

My next competition will be Atlantic Classic Bodybuilding, Figure & Model Championships April 21st in Moncton, New Brunswick and I will be competing in figure medium.

Where can fans find more information about you?

The best place to learn all about me or follow my prep would be my blog
