I have had the pleasure to personally work with Trina.
After having her first child, Trina decided to get her body back, plus pursue her dream of competing in her first figure show. Trina is proof that you can have a fit body after children, and has inspired a lot of women in our community.
1. Briefly share with us your background (Education, Interests, etc.)?
I work full-time as an Occupational Therapist at a local hospital in the Rehabilitation Unit. I just returned to work a couple of months ago after being off for a year on maternity leave. I gave birth to my son in May of 2010.
I love to work out and have always been active in sports. I use to do competitive dance and gymnastics when I was younger, so the idea of one day competing in Figure or Fitness seemed like a natural step for me. The timing was never right with university, house renovations, etc. and then when I was on maternity leave I thought to myself, now’s the time to do this! I knew it would be a great goal to achieve before returning to work while still on maternity leave.
2. Who has inspired you the most to succeed as a Fitness Competitor?
I’ve always admired the girls in Oxygen magazine and of course, Monica Brant, she has always been a long time favorite of mine.
I’d also say my trainer and current figure competitor, Angelique Kronebusch, was most definitely an inspiration. It’s one thing to see the girls in the magazines, but it’s another to actually see someone in reality, who you go to the same gym with, succeed at competing.
Angelique is a personal trainer at the gym I go to and I’d seen her competition pictures and heard great things about her, so I went ahead and asked her to train me for my first show. It was a great experience! Angelique guided me through the whole process and made it a reality for me!
3. What competitions have you made appearances in? From these, what were your placements (titles won)?
My one and only competition so far was this year in Kelowna at the Western Canadian Bodybuilding, Figure and Fitness Championships. I placed 3rd in Figure Short.
4. When is your next upcoming show? What will be your competing class?
I am currently training for the Sandra Wickham Fall Classic in Vancouver, November 13, 2011. I will be competing in Figure short.
5. Where can fans find out more about you (website, published magazines, etc.)?
