Can you please share with our readers your background and interests?

I am 28 years old and currently an IFBB Bikini Pro.  I was born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio.  Athletics have always been a passion of mine; I participated in track and field and volleyball in high school.  I attended undergraduate at Case Western Reserve University and played varsity
volleyball.  After I graduated from Case and worked as a paralegal for two years I began law school at Thomas Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan in the fall of 2008.  While in law school I continued to work out at my local gym; however, my diet suffered. After attending my first NPC event in May 2010 I decided to hire atrainer and compete myself.  I hired Nicole Wilkins for my first contest prep and she helped me lose over 20 pounds and totally transformed my body!  After my contest prep ended with Nicole, one month later I joined Team Bombshell who
helped take my physique to the next level and earn my IFBB pro card!

Who has inspired you the most to succeed as a Bikini Competitor?

When I began this journey as an amateur I looked up not only to my trainer Nicole Wilkins, who holds two of the most prestigious titles in this sport, but also other IFBB Bikini Pros such as Jamie Baird, Nathalia Melo, Nicole Nagrani, and Jennifer Andrews.  Even though I have earned my pro card I still look up to these women today, who are actually all of my teammates on Team Bombshell.  Not only do I look up to other competitors in my sport, but everyone who supports me on a daily basis by sending positive comments and/or messages also inspires me to be the best I can be.  Namely, all of the girls on Team Bombshell; it is nice how much we support and encourage one another even though we compete against each other.

What competitions have you placed in and titles won?

2010: Natural Northern Michigan and Peggy Sue Classic:  Overall Winner

Natural Northern USA:  2nd Class C (Nationally Qualified)

2011: NPC Pittsburgh Championship:  Winner Class B

NPC Eastern Seaboards:  Winner Class C

Jr. Nationals:  2nd Class E

Team Universe:  Winner Class E (Earned Pro Card)

IFBB Fort Lauderdale Cup:  5th

Iowa Pro:  10th Miami Pro: TBA

When is your next upcoming show and your competing class?

My next show is December 10th at the Fillmore in Miami, Florida.  I will be competing in the Pro Bikini class.

What’s your current Nutritional Plan in preparation for a Competition? What Supplements do you take when in contest prep?

Like your typical fitness competitor I eat 6 small meals a day which consists of a lean protein, usually chicken or fish, a complex carb, and a
green veggie.  As my competition approaches my carbs may be cut down a little depending on how my physique is coming in.  As far as supplements I stick to the basics:  multi vitamin, B 12, B 6, Calcium, Zinc, Magnesium, Collagen, glucosamine.  I also take Optimum Nutrition’s 100% Gold Standard Whey Protein and Nurtrex’s Lipo 6 Black Ultra Concentrate as a fat burner.

What’s your weekly Training Split like?

Monday: quads/glutes

Tuesday: shoulders/chest/triceps

Wednesday: hamstrings

Thursday: Back/Biceps

Friday: glutes

Saturday:  cardio

Sunday: Rest

This will change as it gets closer to my competition.  My cardio will increase and plyometrics will also be added. Again, it depends how my physique is coming in.

What’s your Cardio Schedule like?

I love to hit the gym in the morning.  Not only do I get it done but it starts off my day right.  In my improvement season I usually do one cardio session 6 days a week.  During my competition prep that increases to two cardio sessions anywhere from 3-5 days a week.

What techniques do you employ to best prepare you for a Competition?

I believe to compete in a fitness competition, whether you are physique, fitness, figure, or bikini, it is extremely important to practice your posing. Your physique may be on point but if you cannot present it correctly it will go unnoticed.  So practicing my posing is a must.  As stated above my carbs do drop as I come closer to a competition but they are not cut completely.  You also want to make sure your suit fits correctly and your hair and make-up is done.  You want to be the whole package from head to toe!
